Exercise Political Discretion
By Joseph C. Ibekwe
As the election campaigns draw near in Nigeria, please exercise discretion in how you discuss partisan issues. In the coming weeks, emotions will rise to suppress reason. Party faithfuls will become fearsome and aggressive. Be careful how you critic candidates in public discussions so that you don’t become a victim of secret attacks.
Have it to yourself who you want to vote. Let it remain secret. There are many hawks and tigers out there who are only interested in what come to their pocket than what benefits the general population. These ones will do anything to get a pound of flesh from those that seek to oppose their preferred candidates. Be wary on how you discuss with partisan politicians in the coming days.
Never engage in public argument over preferred candidates for the elections, particularly for the Presidential and Governorship. Those of you visit public Newspaper stands, be careful. Slight arguments could lead into fights. Take my word!
Be on the alert. Stay safe. Play the game to stay alive. Let’ make democracy work for us.
